St. Charles (Illinois) Chronicle, Dec. 19, 1935 Headline: Schools Are Closed Until January Sixth (Most of this very long article is tidbits from each of the schools and what they are doing for Christmas. The pertinent part here is: The final returns of the popularity contest at the high school sponsored by the High School "X-Ray" (newspaper) have been given and the winners were announced in the last edition of the school paper. This was the first contest of this type ever held at the school and proved very successful with many students taking an interest in the contest and voting for their favorites. Winners of the contest in their title roles were: Best Dressed Boy - Bud Ziegler Best Dressed Girl - Betty Rothstein Best Sport (Boy) - G. Bell Best Sport (Girl) - Gertrude Wiltsie Biggest Pest - W. Halleck Freshest Freshman - W. Halleck Wittiest Student - G. Bell Most Romantic Student - Crosby Crawford Best Liked Student - G. Bell Most Loyal Student - R. Hanmer Greatest Woman Hater - D.
