Requesting information on my gg grandfather, William Postell Zeigler believed born in Orangeburg SC, 11/18/1836. Appears on 1850 Orangeburg SC census. Moved to Alabama late 50's. Married Mary Hurley 12/16/58 at Troy Alabama. Enlisted in Co A, 39th Alabama Infantry on 5/11/1862 rising to rank of 2nd corporal. According to family legend, Mary found out he was sick in a Confederate camp. She and cousin went to where he was and took him to Orangeburg SC where he died on 7/17/1863 and presumed buried. Trying to find place of burial and any other info on this man.
