Hi Gerri, The Rountree's, spelled that way, were from Bertie, along with the Williams. Priscilla Castellow, often misspelled, was from Bertie, also, and Ezekiel's aunt. Ezekiel Williams moved to South Carolina, around 1764. His first land plat is around that time. In 1798, his son William, filed for recompense on the estate of his father for goods supplied during the Revolutionary War. At the time of his death, Ezekiel lived in Orangeburg. Leven Victor Williams, my ancestor, first appeared on the Census records in 1810, in Orangeburg. His mother, Hannah, was full blooded or part Indian. Her sister, Bethsheba, married Reuben Ironmonger, a full blooded Indian. The depositions for this racial ancestry on Leven's mother's side are on file in South Carolina. I descend thus: Leven Victor Williams > John W. Williams > Seaborn Williams > Navarena Williams > Rena Graham > me. I do not know who Leven married. John W. Williams married Sabry Jones; most likely from the Jones group whose ancestors were in Bertie, also. Solomon Jones appeared in South Carolina, along with John; both in Orangeburg. I have the same information that you do about James Williams marrying Elizabeth Bryan, the daughter of Needham Bryan. I would have to look all of this up to be certain of the facts. Somewhere I have a chart I did, with all of the references, wills, marriage documents, etc. Right now, I can't locate it, as we are moving rooms. Theophilus Williams married Christian Busby. The will of Cathron Busby, in Bertie, dated February 22, 1739, lists Theophilus Williams and his daughter, Hester, and Theophilus Williams' children (not named). Cathron listed Theophilus Williams as her executor. The testators to the will were: Needham Bryan, H.L. Bate, and Susan Bryan. If I find it, I will post the information.
