This portrait of Samuel D. Willard appears on page 117 of The Canadian Horticulturist, vol.XVII, no.4, 1894. Samuel was born 24 August 1835 in Cayuga, NY. In 1869 he moved to Geneva, NY and became involved in the nursery business. He became very well known for his knowledge of fruit culture and took an active role in several groups, which advanced horticulture and agriculture.
