Archibald M Willard (Spirit of 76): His ties to Vermont
Posted by: Susan McNelley (ID *****5938) Date: March 06, 2008 at 22:00:06
  of 2012

Archibald Willard, the artist who painted "The Spirit of 76," was born in Bedford OH and died in Cleveland, Ohio. His father was the Rev. Samuel Willard and his mother Catherine (maiden name unknown). According to various records, this Rev. Samuel Willard was born in Vermont. According to family lore, this Samuel Willard also had a sister, Clora Willard, who was the second wife of Joseph Lamb, a Revolutionary War patriot from Vermont. Does anyone have any records (and source information) on the ancestry of Archibald and his father Samuel Willard? Who were the Rev. Samuel Willard's parents and siblings? Any ties to the Rev. Samuel Willard of Boston, Massachusetts?
