Jane:
I'm the one who's sorry. In my excitement at being related to Gov. William Bradford, I confused Eliz. as his daughter--wrong--she was Samuel's daughter, Gov. Wm.'s grand- daughter. Do you have info. on Whiting lines?
I found out I was related to Gov. William in one of two new-to-me books, "The History and Genealogy of The Witherspoon Family--- 1400-1987" and "Descendants of the Signers of the Declaration, Vol. III, New Jersey".
I have known for several years that John Witherspoon, signer, was my ggggg- grandfather, but now I learn that Gov. William Bradford is my ggggggggg-grandfather. The relation is through the son of Rev. Witherspoon, the signer. This son, David, married Mary Harding Jones (Nash) who was the daughter of Mary Whiting (Jones). Her mother was Elizabeth Bradford, who married Charles Whiting, I think. The only discrepancy is that my source says that Mary Whiting (Jones) was born in 1814, another says 1834. Am I missing a generation or is there a mistake? Which date is correct? Also, what is considered authentic documentation for this Bradford to Whiting line for membership in the Mayflower group? I have authenticity for the Jones line down to my daughters.
Thanks for any help. Are you and I related other than cousins? Thanks----Sherry
