Thanks for responding. Multiple records exist
in different places for the Mather descendants of the Masons and Whitings.
They are shown in Ontario, NY, Binghampton NY, Amherst MA, and Great Barrington, MA.
I wonder whether these multiple records are because of religious disputes in the Presbyterian Church, or if there actually were multiple weddings and christenings to satisfy wealthy relatives and ensure inheritances...

Frances Whiting's great grandson, William Tyler Mather was a professor of physics at
University of Texas in Austin. He is written up in the Handbook of Texas Online and Who Was Who 1942, His son, Edward Otis Mather, married Helen Engelking, descendant of German-born Texas patriots such as the Prussian von Roeders, and the Nova Scotian James family.
