For years, annual family reunion has been held in Oneida, TN. Any Strunks interested in starting a family reunion around Cincinnati, OH? I have found that we take pride in our name's heritage. My grandad worked and retired from the railroad. The railroad shaped what my family has become over the years. It brought my grandparents together. My grandad put the first street lights up in Oneida, TN. My grandma, barely five feet tall, hired out for less than 50 cents a week at the age of 14. She cleaned, cooked, scalded chickens, cut firewood, and used a crosscut saw. (That's why I have one hanging on my wall). She raised three men often by herself. I will try to live up to their examples. I spent five years in the US Navy. I have worked hard since I left the Navy in 1998. I have literally walked (and worked) in some of my grandad's footsteps on a small part of the railroad he worked on. I followed his lead in becoming a plumber, a welder, and a steam boiler operator. I face fear with determination. My grandad's actions spoke louder than words. I have learned from my grandma to never give up. Do what's right, never look back. Can't never did nothing. I learned from both of them to stick together. They were married for life, for better or worse, and I plan to do the same.
