James and Elizabeth STANNARD, Suffolk, England

My Great Great Grandparents were James and Elizabeth STANNARD. From the 1851 and 1881 Census data I have established that James was born in Henham, Suffolk, about 1823, and Elizabeth was also born in Henham about 1824 (per 1881 census) or the adjacent village of Sotherton (per 1851 census). Their son George, born 1850, was my great grandfather. In the 1881 census James and Elizabeth were living in Lorne Road, Southwold Suffolk (my home town). However I have been unable to find any birth/christening records for either James or Elizabeth or a record of their marriage, which I believe to be pre 1851. I know that their son George was married in the Wesleyan chapel at Wenhaston Suffolk (1875) so James and Elizabeth may also have been nonconformists.

If anybody knows anything about this rather elusive couple, or related Suffolk STANNARDs, I would very much appreciate hearing from them. Without information on James' parents or Elizabeth's maiden name my research on this part of my family cannot go back any further.

Thank you.
