Giselle, I've just been through 262 images of the 1870 census for Orange county, Virginia and I haven't found Robert Stanard or any Stanard there at that time. R.T. Stanard and his wife M.B. and son Beverley and some servants were in Orange County by 1880.
I don't know where to look next, off to the west in Green County where Stanardsville or to the east in Spotsylvania County. I'm actually tracking the servant and her child born in 1878.
