Sorry I'm so late on this follow up. We are talking about different branches of the Stanard family. None of my direct ancestors spelled their name Stannard. The Willam Stanard in our line came to VA as an immigrant around 1670. From what I can tell his descendents stayed in the south. Best wishes on your branch.
