Genevieve,

This will be lengthy so please bear with me.
In short Yes Henry was Lucy's second husband and Shipley was her maiden name.
Her first husband was James Hanks and they had a daughter Nancy. It is unclear as to whether James Hanks died or if they divorced. Whichever the case Lucy met Henry Sparrow in Virginia after Henry returned from the revolution. Henry was at Yorktown when Cornwallis surrendered to Washington. After they were married they moved to Kentucky because Nancy Hanks was already living there with Richard Sparrow, Henry's brother, and his wife Elizabeth. It was in Kentucky that Nancy Hanks met and married Thomas Lincoln and they had a son, Abraham Lincoln. Elizabeth acted as Doula at Abrahams birth. The Sparrows and the Lincolns all moved to Spencer county Indiana together and Nancy Hanks, Elizabeth Sparrow and many others died of the "milk-sick" there. Abraham remained in Spencer county until he moved to Springfield Ill. to practice law.
The Sparrows are an imortant family in US history not only because of the Lincoln connection but also because we are related to Richard and Pandora Sparrow of Plymouth colony Mass. Richard built a house there in 1640 and it is the oldest original structure still standing in Plymouth.
I am related to Henry Sparrow as one of his and Lucy's descendants. They would be my GGGG Grandparents
Hope this was not too boring.
