Can anyone help ? I am researching my family tree - Powell/Phillips from the district of Ystradyfodwg, Rhondda.
The Powell family hails from Ton Pentre and the Phillips from Llwynypia. On a very old special events record that I am fortunate to have a copy of there is an entry on it saying that Thomas and Sarah (nee Howell) Phillips(my great grandparents) adopted Kate Sparrow in December 1902. No age of Kate is given, or who her natural mother was - please can anyone throw any light on this. I would be interested to know what happened to Kate - whether they changed her name to Phillips - if she married - when she died etc. Thomas and Sarah did have children of there own (one of them was my Grandmother Alexandrina Powell nee Phillips who was orn in 1901) All ancestors from the Powell side of the family appear to be buried at Treorchy and the Phillips at Trealaw. I would be grateful for any information anybody has regarding Kate or the Sparrow family that she came from - Thanks
