Hi Adnil,

I have just been reading through this thread of messages, and in this one I found:

'There is a George and Barbara Sommer and children, Frederick (8), Magdelena (6), on the Commodore Perry in 1855.'

These are MY family!

Just FYI: they disembarked at Sydney, having come from Untereisesheim, Wuertt. via Liverpool in England. They soon settled at Yellow Rock (near Albion Park in the Illawarra area of NSW), but by the early 1860s had moved to Sydney.

In 2005, we had a family reunion to celebrate the sesquicentenary of their arrival. All the descendants were traced, and a book was published: Our Sommer Family from Untereisesheim, Wuerttemburg, Germany.

Regards,

Carol in Sydney
- Frederick is my gt-grandfather.
