The 1910 census shows Hiram Smith 42, Mary 28, daughter Ida 12 (yes, I'm sure it is Ida) and son Elliot 13/12 living in Spring Twp., Crawford County, PA. They were married 3 years and it was his second marriage.

The 1920 census shows the family again without Ida. This time Hiram's parents are listed as born in NY and MA. The 1930 census shows Hiram first married when he was 21.

I believe Hiram is listed in 1900 census as Hiram Smith Jr, born Oct 1867, wife Rose S. born April 1872 and daughter Ida born Dec 1897 living in Spring Twp. next door to Hiram Smith born Nov 1819 in NY and his wife Matilda E. born Nov 1833. They were married for 17 years.

The 1880 census shows Hiram Smith 60, born in NY as were his parents, wife Avis 53 born in MA as were her parents, and son Hiram 12. The 1870 has the same basic info, however, the household includes Eli W. Smith 77. Whether this is Hiram's father or some other relative is the question.

The 1860 and 1850 censuses both show Hiram Smith again but with a wife of Harriet and still living in Spring Twp.

The 1860 and 1850 censuses also show Eli W. & Isabella Smith in Crawford County.

Some of these records you can look at for free at labs.familysearch.org and Ancestry.com. For those you cannot see for free I suggest checking with your local libraries to see if they have Ancestry or Heritage Quest.

I suggest getting the marriage records for both of Hiram's marriages. They are most likely on record at the Crawford County Register of Wills. Hopefully they will have info on the parents of Hiram and his two wives.

You might also check with the Crawford County Historical Society and the Meadville Family History Center to see if they can help you. This website might also be helpful: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~pacrawfo/

If you know when and where Hiram and Mary died I suggest getting their death certificates and obituaries. They should have parents' names and possibly siblings' names.
