This was found while I was searching the "History of Indiana County, Pennsylvania" by J.A. Caldwell. It is available to read online at Ancestry.com, this was on p. 519 and I wondered how anyone researching Westmd County would ever find it, so here it is!
"Capt. George E. Smith was born 1821 in Unity Township, Westmoreland county, and was a son of William T. and Elizabeth Smith nee Henderson. The former was a daughter of George and Elizabeth Smith nee Todd. The latter was a daughter of William and Anna Todd nee Rambo. The "Rambo" apple originated with the latter's family. William T. Smith's children were: Nancy J., m. to Thomas J. Laughlin, d.; George E., m. first to Sarah Stewart, d., second to Sarah Hill, d., and third to Margaret Waddell; Elizabeth T., m. to A.M. Turner; and William T., M.D., m. to Sue Reynolds. Our subject's children were: Susan E., William A., D.D.S., and George H., d. in 1855. For two years he was a clerk in a forwarding and commission house in Philadelphia. From 1840 to 1843 he carried on a tannery in Blairsville. In 1865 and '66, he represented this county in the state house of representatives. He served seven years in the U.S. revenue department, four as assistant assessor , and three as deputy collector and surveyor. Of late years, he has been in the insurance business at Indiana, locating in the latter in 1868. His first residence in the county commenced at Blairsville in 1835.
I hope this helps someone out there!
