Thanks for your reply and the information about the Stanley's and Smith's. Yes, I know Don. He is a cousin and has done a good deal of research on the McGlothlen family. Our common ancestor, George H. McGlothlen married Elizabeth Cain, probably in TN. They first came to Fountain Co. IN, then to IA and finally WA state. G.H. McGlothlen and Elizabeth are buried in the Wenas Cemetery, Yakima County, WA.

I haven't done much with the Stanley/Standley surname either. At this time I believe they were married in KY, but have no proof. Most of the census information searched has Millie born in NC and Jacob in SC. The 1870 census states his parents were foreign-born.

There may be a Quaker/PA connection to these families as well. The Spray and Mayfield surnames may also have ties to the early Quakers. I'll look at my Stanley information and see if there is anything I can pass along. sara
