Hello Deborah, My Taylor family is from Chariton, Lucas Co, IA. My g-grandfather's sister Nancy Taylor married a Silas Smith in abt 1832 in Fountain Co, IN. Between 1840-50 the family moved to Iowa. In the 1850 census she was living with her parents in Lucas County, which leads me to think Silas may have been deceased. She has three children. Pheba, Mayfield and Nancy Ellen. Nancy Taylor Smith did not remarry. Daughter, Nancy E married a Burley. I think his name was James. I'm also interested in the Stanley name, as my g-great grandfather, Jacob Taylor, was married to a Millie Stanley, born in NC about 1790. She is buried at the Goshen cemetery in Lucas County. I don't know too much about the Smith line. I did find Silas Smith, along with several other Smiths in the 1840 Fountain County, IN census. It is in MC 704 Roll 80.
