Dear Cynthia, So nice to hear from you, Cousin. My grandfather, your grandfather's twin, was Clarence Clifton Schmitt who passed away in Maricopa County (Phoenix) in 1974. Clarence married Ethel Stone, my grandmother, from Arkansas City. They lived in Oklahoma City for a while later returning to Ark City. Sadly, by the time I was born, Ethel was married to her last husband in Spokane, Washington, the man I knew as my grandfather. I never met Clarence and I know my mother had little to no contact with him. (I'm sure there is a story there but I don't know what it was. It was the 1930's and I don't think divorce was that common) From that marriage, Clarence and Ethel had four children: Lucille, Lousise Marion, Evelyn Loraine, my mother, and Robert, the youngest. Evelyn met my father, Raymond Muchowich, in Winfield, Kansas where he was stationed during WWII. At the end of the war, they settled on the coast of Texas, Freeport, where I grew up. My mother passed away in 2007. I did quite of bit of genealogy research on the Schmitt family in the 90's and ran across a nice gentleman in Hiawatha, Kansas named Lyle Hinz who had done extensive work on it. In fact, I visited him in Hiawatha where he maintains a genealogy library. He showed me around the area where our Schmitt ancestor, John Adam Schmitt settled. But you may or may not be aware of all of this. Please feel free to contact me directly at my e-mail, marilynms2@aol.com, if you have any questions or want to continue this discussion. I do have quite a bit of Schmitt information I would be happy to share. Thanks for making contact, Cousin, Marilyn Notify Administrator about this message?
