SPRINGFIELD - Alverna M. Schmitt, 86, of Springfield died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, at Heritage Manor.
She was born Feb. 5, 1920, in Staunton, the daughter of Alfred and Marian Bader. She married James R. Schmitt in 1938; he died in 1980. A daughter, Karen K. Schmitt, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Schmitt was a bookkeeper for Springfield Tire.
Survivors: son, James R. (wife, Betty) Schmitt of Springfield; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Nelva (husband, Kenneth) Bussen of St. Louis; and two nieces.
Cremation was accorded by the Cremation Tribute Center.
Graveside services: 1 p.m. Friday, Oak Hill Cemetery.
Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
