Hi! I am looking for help on my sister-in-law’s family.
As far as I can figure, in Schmalnau, Hessen, Germany, there was an Otto & Anastasia Schmitt (or Schmidt). They had two daughter and four sons. One son, Karl J. Schmitt (1885-1967) came to America in 1903, and Monroe, Michigan in 1905. He married Grace Foster (1879-1954), and had one son – my sister-in-law’s father.
In 1913, brother Joseph Schmidt (1887-1958) came to Monroe, and then moved on to Detroit. He married a woman named Eva, and had one daughter, and four sons.
I got all of this information from a couple of Monroe Evening News obituaries. Anyway, does anyone have anything on Joseph Schmidt or Schmitt? I can’t find him in the SSDI.
