Schmidt/Whitehurst-Hamburg, ger 17-1800

Does anyone have info concerning 2 Schmidt(Smith) brothers and several Whitehurst brothers escaping a prison in Hamburg, Germany, catching a boat in England and traveling to America? This is a legend that has been handed down in the Smith family in southwest Ga/southeast Alabama. They traveled through Virginia, North Carolina, Bibb County in Georgia @1840's and on to Barbour County, Alabama @1850's. This was retold to me by a 94 year old first counsin of my father. Do the names Henry and Dolly Smith, Henry Smith and Sarah Worsley, Turner Smith and Susan Worrell, Turner Smith and Elizabeth Gilbert ring a bell?
Please respond.
Thanks,
Shirley
