Thanks to Robert T of Germany genforum, the "A" stands for August not Anton. Christoph August von Schmidt dedicated the Theresienstein Schmidts Gedenkstein or Von Schmidt'sche Gedenktafel in 1838 in Theresienstein a city park in Hof.
