Louis Schmidt, contractor, b.Oct 1860, lived Douglas Co., WI, bro of John

I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “Louis Schmidt”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in about early 1890, in W. Superior (Douglas Co.) WI, and he looks to be in his 20s. On the card is handwritten “Compliments of Louis Schmidt” – and under it in another handwriting is: “My dad’s brother was unmarried, was a contractor with his brother John in Superior. Built a ‘tonel” (tunnel) in state of Washington and got a sunstroke and died there. His wife May had one daughter, Gladys Schmidt, Superior”.

I found this family all living together in the 1900 census for Superior (Douglas Co.) WI. John W. Schmidt was head, married to wife May B., with daughter Gladys, and living with them was “brother” Louis. John W. was born Mar 1856 WI, age 44, wife May Oct 1871, daughter Gladys in Jun 1899, and brother Louis Oct 1860. One World Tree shows Louis with DOB 6 Nov 1860 Michicot, WI, and he died 26 Jan 1926 Superior, WI. Parents Johann and Dorothea (Ernestine) Schmidt.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Louis Schmidt.
