Due to the number of Schmidt surnames that were changed to Smith, the Family Tree Smith/Smyth/Smythe DNA project has decided to include the Schmidt surname. To participate you must be a "Direct Line" MALE Schmidt who can trace their ancestry to TN/VA/NC/KY. This is a "Y" Chromosome test so only male Schmidts can participate.
The cost is only $101.00 for the "12 Marker" test. A "25 Marker" test is available for a little more. The 12 marker test can determine with 99.9% accuracy if you have a common ancestor in the last 40 or so generations. The 25 marker test is good for several hundred generations. They can also determine whether your ancestors came from Middle Europe, England, Northwest Europe,ie Viking (my line), Asia, etc.

My line is the Robert Smith who married a Mary Fraker.
It is family lore that Robert's father was a George Schmidt who came to America circ. 1760, with Mary Fraker's father Michael Fraker. But not yet proven.
Barry F. Smith
