I am seeking to exchange information about Jacob Schmidt (Smith) (1803-June 18, 1880) and his wife Elizabeth Rabner (Jan. 15, 1799-Jan. 1851). Jacob was born at Trier (Treve), Germany and was a blacksmith. He immigrated to the US on July 26, 1834 aboard the Rhone. He settled in or near Perkinsville and later Wayland (Steuben County), NY., where he died.
Elizabeth Rabner was born at Tholey, Germany. She and Jacob married about 1823. She is buried at the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Perkinsville, NY.
Elizabeth and Jacob had at least 8 children. They were:
Jacob Smith (b. 1825) at Treve, Germany.
Peter Smith (b. Aug. 11, 1827 at Treve, Germany. He married Susana Risch on Jan. 27, 1853. He died on May 1, 1908 at Wayland, NY
Margaret Smith (b. July 20, 1829) at Treve, Germany. She married Peter Gergen in 1848. She died on Apr. 10, 1909 and is buried at St.Francis Xaviver Cemetery, Cherryvale (Montgomery County), Kansas. I am descended from her.
Wendal Smith (b. 1831) at Treve, Germany. He married Susan Gaspar in 1858.
Elizabeth Smith (b. 1834) at Treve, Germany. She married Peter Miller on May 13, 1852. She died in 1901 and is buried at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Cherryvale, Ks.
Francis Smith (b. 1836) in NY, a female.
Franklin Smith (b. 1837) in Steuben County, NY
Nicholas Smith (b. Sept. 14, 1839) in NY. He married Mary Lismann in 1864.
John Smith (b. 1841) in Germany? Married Mary Drum in 1867.
