Dear fellow searchers, I wanted to share the news that our Family has originated in Palencia Province,Spain. The town of Saldana has a very interesting website with lots of current news and info. Other sites are the Colombia site. There are also church records available from the 1500's in South American parishes.Since some spanish surnames are also sephardic in origin (spanish jews who converted to christianity in 1492 under the mandate of the Reyes Catolicos (Ferdinand and Isabella), there's a fascinating website ( www.sephardim.com ) which can also yield pertinent historical data , heraldry (family crests and blazons ) , and other significant finds. This site also has excellent links to other information-rich sites online. Hope this helps in your genealogigal search . Happy hunting ! J.E. Saldana
