Gary - It was absolutely delightful to see your correct placement of James RUTHERFORD of Cub Creek, Lunenburg Co., VA. I well know about that settlement and have done considerable research on same. One soon learns of the association of General Griffith RUTHERFORD of the Revolutionary War and James RUTHERFORD of Cub Creek thru the records. The Valley of Virginia was quite a highway in those days. Having researched Goochland Co., and the Scottish migrations into same thru York Co., New Kent Co., and Hanover Co., {Scotchtown} I know a bit about that RUTHERFORD History. John RUTHERFORD of the 1717 Jacobite Rebellion who was banished to the Colonies was in such good luck as were two other Scots James WATSON and John MICHIE who landed in York and were immediately helped by Scots already in the area including my WATSON Family. {Down from a Scottish Mariner who had the transport, ca 1630}. However - I have not researched John RUTHERFORD {Jacobite Rebellion} in relationship to Adam RUTHERFORD of Goochland County. My George McKENZIE, Revolutionary War, who fought with Francis Marion, The Swamp Fox, was one of those who moved north with the Quakers from South Carolina as did my Husband's JOHNSTONS of Caskieben, Crimond and Caiesmill, from Virginia. Those stories are of Ones of Legend. The Ulster Group is the last of my Scottish Families to arrive in the early 1700's. But the rest of the groups I was not aware of. Again - By Whatever Spelling Or Mode Of Transport - those RUTHERFORDS Got Around. With Holiday Wishes - Lois Notify Administrator about this message?
