Rudy, we communicated some time ago about the Rio Grande Valley Arce's. I have severalJose Maria Ruiz's throughout my grandfather's lineage. The first is 5 generations back, a brother to my ggggggrandfather Jose Mariano Ruiz, born on 9/27/1791. He would have been too old to sire your Rafael. Then Jose Mariano also had a son he named Jose Maria (my gggggrandfather)who married Ma. Teresa Villarrreal in 1834 in Camargo. They also had a son named Placido (my ggguncle) who in turn had a son he also named Jose Maria Ruiz born in 1879. I don't know much about him. Placido I believe ended up migrating to the Rio Grande Valley, however. I don't know if Ma. Teresa Villarreal and Jose Maria stayed married until their deaths or if either was widowed because I can't find records for them. I understand that Camargo records were burned for much of that time period. Jose Mariano's father was Jose Manuel Ruiz and he died in Agualeguas although he was born in Cerralvo. Jose Manuel's father was Jose Antonio Ruiz and I don't have a birthplace for him, but he died in Cerralvo on 11/23/1785. I have names of several siblings for these guys too, although none of them are Rafael (except one greatuncle) or Felipe.
