Hi. Saw yer question about the Rehrig name.
This is a direct quote from a genology page I got a few years ago.
Quote begins:
"With regard to the family name Rehrig, it indicates 'son of Rehrig' a variant ot the Old High German first name 'Raganrich', which is composed of 'ragin', meaning 'council' and 'rihhi', meaning 'power and rule'.
It is also possible that the name is a derivative of the
Middle High German word 'rorich', meaning 'full of reeds', denoting 'one who lived in a piece of land where reeds grow'.
Variants of this surname include Rehrich, Rhenrich, Rerich, Rorich, and Rorig". End of quote.
Hope this helps.
God Bless.
