Janetta Eleanor Reeder (McAusland) passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, 2009 in Melfort, Sask. She is survived by her son Gerry, (Jean), Natasha, Tavis, Larissa, son Bruce, (Sheila), Jonathan, Kristina, son Neil, (Irene), Erika, Amanda, Ryan and daughter, Brenda. She is also remembered by her brothers Clarance and Herbert McAusland, numerous sisters and brothers-in-law. Eleanor was born on April 21, 1921 on the family farm near Melfort, Sask. She attended various country schools and took high school by correspondence. In 1941, Eleanor worked in Ottawa in the Munitions and Supply Office and Vancouver for BC Tel before returning to Melfort in 1945. In 1947 she married James Hugh Reeder and they established J H Reeder Construction Ltd. She worked in several local businesses over the years and was a volunteer for the Melfort Museum, Meals on Wheels, Hospital Auxiliary, OORP Lodge and United Church Women, as well as being active in the Parents Association of the Melfort Kinsmen School Band. She sang in the Melfort United Church Choir and was a Charter Member of the Melfort View Homemakers Club. Eleanor travelled extensively throughout Canada and overseas. Working in the garden was a wonderful hobby of hers. She enjoyed spending time in her yard and flowers. In 2001 she wrote in her own hand, her life story and had it printed for her family with a total of 70 pages of the history of a remarkable prairie family. She was predeceased by her parents, Crawford and Charlotte McAusland, infant sister, Lily and husband, James Hugh Reeder (1974) and various sisters and brothers-in law. Our prayers and thoughts are with her, and we celebrate her rich and productive life and her many accomplishments. The Memorial Service was held on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Melfort United Church with Gwendolyn Mills Wood officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the Melfort United Church. Notify Administrator about this message?
