Jasper Newton Reeder, Splunge Bottom, Miss

I found in the 1850 Alabama census, Five Mile Beat, District Number 31, December 23, 1850, a Thomas and Sarah Ann Reeder, ages 26 and 24 respectively. Three children were listed: William T. age 5 year; Sarah E. age 4 year, and John age 1 year.

I had regarded this as the wrong branch of the Reeders, until after a conversation with JoAnne Horton added Jasper and James to the family.

Jasper Newton Reeder, my gg-grandfather:
This information is from the 1900 census, Monroe County Mississippi: Vol. 36, ED 69, Sheet 14, and Line 78. I do know that he(Newt) owned a large amount of land in Blossburg(Jefferson County, Alabama) that was sold in order to go to Mississippi and he sold the Miss land to return to Alabama, per tradition. He was a farmer and timber cutter. He died Abt 1916.

Jasper Newton Reeder had two children from this marriage, but raised three nephews and one niece whose parents had died. The nephews and will be started with an asterisk:

1. John Richard REEDER was born on 23 Sep 1845. He died BET 1894 and 1900.
John Richard REEDER and Martha JONES were married about 1880. Martha JONES was born on 20 Dec 1844. She died
BET 1894 and 1900.

John Richard REEDER and Martha JONES had the following children:
+2 i. Annie E. REEDER, born in Jun 1881.
+3 ii. Richard Bell REEDER, born on 16 Apr 1887; married Ida REEDER, on 6 Aug 1910; died on 17
Apr 1956, Cullman, Cullman County Alabama.
4 iii. Albert REEDER was born on 16 Apr 1891. He died before 1900.
5 iv. John Thomas REEDER was born on 14 Mar 1892. Born in Alabama: Lived in Missouri: Died in
California.
6 v. Joseph "Jobie" Nelson REEDER was born on 12 May 1894. He died in Shamrock Creek
Oklahoma.

Thomas Reeder and his son, William T. Reeder were involved in the Confederate struggle. Their Confederate Military Records are:
