Ancestors of Robert Reader of Whitgift Yorkshire England
Posted by: Seth Reeder (ID *****0250) Date: November 04, 2008 at 21:43:11

I've recenty been directed to a few references that have concluded that my Reeder/Reader lineage is descendant from Robert Reader III of Whitgift, Yorkshire, England. I've been trying to find out who his ancestors were, I've only gotten as far back as Robert Reader II and his wife Mary Houten/Hooten(who is of Dutch ancestry), so I'm curious if my Reader line was no originally from England, but from the Netherlands, then moved to England, my reasoning is obviously due to the presence of Mary Houten/Hooten as his wife, Houten/Hooten being a Dutch name, and there being various variants of names similar to Reader/Reeder in the Netherlands. idk. I've tried to trace my Reader line to other English Readers and there's nothing accurate in England before 1672 in regards to my line, the trend of Reader/Reeder lineages in England seems to be centered around the East Anglia region and surrounding territories, the Yorkhire Reader's is an odd occurance, so I'm curious if there's a possiblility that they were not originally English, but some other European origin. idk. I've been doing some genetics research on Y-Chromosome haplotypes and most of the Reader's/Reeder's seem to be R1b1b2(basically the Continental Anglo-Saxon haplotype), while the only line with any possible connection to mine, that I've observed as of right now, is I2b1, which is a haplotype frequent in Souhern Scandinavia, the Netherlands, and Fryslan, not to be confused with the other variants of haplogrous I2, I2b1 is a N.W. Continental haplotype, as is R1b1b2. I also participate in a few Biodiversity Forums and my physical phenotype is more typical among N.W. Continental and S. Scandinavian regions, rather than Britain, basically Bruennish feaures in overall appearance(a result of admixture with typical British lines upon arriving in America) but with extreme head length and facial index more typical of Scandinavians, grey eyes, and Borrebyish/Alpinised nasal structure, and more Scandinavian pigmentation in skin tone, I've observed the physical phenotypes of other family and ancestors and they seem to be of the Borreby variety, while the more British features were a result of admixture in America, there's a distinction between many of my relatives, my main Reader line looks very Vestlandet and Agderish and Jutlandic, while the other family lineages are clearly British. idk. basically the main point I'm getting at is the dominant traits in my family are atypical of British folk, but rather more common among N.W. Germanics and S. Scandinavians, Dutch folk, and Jutlandic Danes, which makes me question the origin of my Reader lineage. My main focus is finding out who Robert Reader's ancestors were.
