Maybe I can add some clarification to the question about the descendants of Degory Priest. As we know he came over on the ship Mayflower and died (1 Jan. 1621) shortly after his arrival at Plymouth. He left a wife, Sarah Allerton (1590-1633) and two daughters, Mary (1613-1689) and Sarah (1615-1648) in Leyden, Holland. The two daughters and their mother with her new husband Godbert Godberson (1590-1633) arrived at Plymouth on the ship Anne in 1623. Both Mary and Sarah married and had families. Mary Priest married Phineas Pratt (1593-1680) and one of their daughters was Mercy Pratt (1642-1691). Mercy married Jeremiah Holman (1629-1709) and they had a son Jeremiah Holman (1670-1739). This son Jeremiah married Abigail ______ (1672-1746). Now the interesting part. Their daughter Abigail Holman (1693-1770) married Gabriel Priest (1690-1755). In other words Degory Priest’s g-g-granddaughter married back into a Priest line. If there is any family relationship between these two Priest lines it is purely speculation. Gabriel Priest and Abigail did have three sons, John (1717-1772), Gabriel (1719-1781) and Jeremiah (1722-1781) and they each had large families. So there are a lot of Priest out there that have a connection to Degory Priest—my wife being one of them and a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants. This early Priest family data is all published in “Mayflower Families Through Five Generations”, Vol. Eight, Degory Priest, edited by Robert Wakefield. Your local library should have a copy. If you can prove your family connection to any one of these three sons, John, Gabriel or Jeremiah you have a connection to Degory Priest. Good luck. Geo
