Just did a bit more research and it appears that the date for his marriage to Maud was out by 30 years!!!!. Some people should watch what they're trying to transcribe!!!. It was 1336, so that fits in nicely, as she passed away in 1366. Also turns out that the John that married Liz wasn't the 7th Earl either, it was his eldest son, John (who dies in 1350), so I made a mistake myself in my last post...sorry :). Just shows you how easily it is to get confused with these oldies. I would also say that John's parents had him out of wedlock, as the date you posted for his birth (1335) seem ridiculous as it would've made him 6 when he married!!!. I'd say he was born in the 1320's sometime...probably mid to late. Plus, the marriage date maybe a little too early....possibly mid 1340's??.
