Sacred to the memory of
Col. Andrew Pickens
who was born 13-th Nov. 1779,
and died 24-th June 1838,
He was the son of Gen. Andrew Pickens of South Carolina, and was admitted to the bar
In the war of 1812, he discharged his duty
to his country as a Lieut Col. in the US Army on the Canadian Frontier, and in 1814 he was appointed Commander of one of the Regiments of State Troops raised in South Carolina.
In 1817 he was elected Governor of his State.
In all the various State offices he was called on to fill he discharged his duties with honor and fidelity, full of justice and truth."
