I have a 1932 geneology written by a Robert Lemuel Davis that has an serious relationship with the Pickens in migrating to US. "Beginning with (1) Robert Davis b. 1680: m. Anna Pickens in Tyrone Co. Ireland. The Pickens were Huguenots from Normandy France to Holland and from there through England to Ireland was the way by which thousands of those Hugeunots fled during the 16th & 17th centuries while the religious persecutions were going on in France. They came from (Drumquin) in Tyrone Co. Ireland. The Davis & Pickens came to America in 1736 landing at Paxton near Phila. Pa. Remained there till 1741. The 4 families, Robert Davis, Robert Pickens, John and Andrew Pickens; all removed to the Waxhaw section in the Carolinas."

Another section has: "In 1761 Andrew Pickens, Jr. made up a company of militia to put the Cherokee Indians down. This Andrew was the s. of the elder Andrew and first cousin to the Davis boys. Five of the Davis brothers joined his company that time. George, Wm., Robert, John and Moses. The life of Andrew Pickens is very interesting to his distant relatives. At the beginning of th e Revolution he was made captain of a militia company and by successive promotions soon attained the rank of Brigadier General of S.C. troops. Gaining great distinction as a partisan leader. In 1779 he defeateda superior force of loyalists under General Boyd at Kettle Creek, participated in June 25 in the battle of Stone Ferry, and defeated the Cherokee at Tomassees. He commanded the militia at the Cowpens. Man. 17, 178? and for his gallantry received a sword from Congress. At the battle of Eutaw Springs Sept 1781, he was in command of the Carolina militia and in 17782 the Cherokees to relinguish their claim to a large tract of land now included in the state of Georgia, after the warwas overa member of the South Carolina legislature from 1783 to 1794, sat in Congress from 1793 to 1795, was a member of the State Constitutional Convention. Became Major Gen, of the militia 1795 and again in the Legislature in 1801 and 1812 he was commissioned on many occasions to treat with Indians.
(3)Andrew Pickens: a lawyer, Governor of SC in 1816 to 18; m. removed to Miss. d. in 1838
(3)Israel Pickens; sat in Congress from 1811 to 1813 from western NC. like his bro, an intensive believer of Southern institutions; and wonderfully attracted to John C. Calhoun, and to others of like faith.
(3)Frances Wilkinson Pickens; b. 1805 d. 1869 He was reared at St. Pauls Parish SC." There is a page of similar bio on him if anyone needs. Hope this info aids some of the Pickens in their quest. I will copy this to Genforum also.
