Hi Tina
Were your grandparents James Laxton and Emily Gostick. I am helping my cousin's wide Beetty Dean with her research and she also came from Edmonton/Tottenham area.
I have found that Janes was born 1871 in Hackney , but his father died very young and I believe that he was also a James.
