Trying to find information on Mary P. (Laxton) Smith (1822 TN - 1897 AL)
Mary is listed in the 1850 Hardin Co. TN Census as head of household with her family (William C., b. abt 1844 and James K. P. b. abt. 1849). She is living next to Jesse Laxson, b. abt 1895 NC, and a Margaret Laxson (age 19) is living in the household with her. She is listed again in the 1860 Grundy Co. TN census with the same family plus the addition of a child John Franklin b. in 1852, again living near Jesse Laxon (who is living with the Bell family) and she is next door to Ferril and Darcus Laxon.
Mary is buried in Madison Co. AL in the Smith Cemetery next to her son John Franklin Smith. John's death certificate lists his parents as Hiram Smith and Mary Laxton, both b. in TN.
