Hello Destiney & welcome to genealogy!!!
We are also pretty new to it....& being in the UK cant help much about NAmerican sources. I am sure you will get lots of replies....& there will be a lot of help available on this web site.

Although I cant help much at present....I can tell you that there is a village called LAXTON in Nottinghamshire & it is very old because it still has preserved the Mediaeval strip field system [which is only still to be seen in 1 other place in UK I believe]
