Kistler Family Genealogy Forum

Jason,
Thank you so much for responding. The reason I provided so few details was this was a stab in the dark. Since the Kistlers had many academically strong individuals in their family line, I thought our families missing link may have been related. The 'illegitimate' child (Mary Isabella Eveland) was far more intelligent than her 8 half siblings. Obviously, the brains came from her father. As it turned out, our missing link is Frank Stitfole, son or nephew of West Penn merchant Henry Stitfole. Family lore was that the father was college bound and a marriage would have ruined his future. According to the 1860 census, Frank was shipped off to a farm in Harrison, IN. The best spin I can put on it is that it may have been a summer job.
Thanks again for taking the time to post.
