I have no connection to the Huntsinger family, but I ran across something that might be of interest and I thought I would share it with this forum. Driving across northern Kansas on U.S. Hwy 36, I have noticed a little roadside park on the south side of the highway, between Mankato and Smith Center. (The park is in either Jewell or Smith County; I am not sure which). There is a stone with a plaque there which bears the following inscription: "Huntsinger Park" "The oak trees in this park were planted by Abner and Mary Huntsinger on their homestead in the year 1875 in memory of their grandparents and other pioneers. Made possible by State Highway Commission of Kansas and The John Matousek Family the present owner of the homestead." "Dedicated August 26, 1956" Where the "homestead" was, is no longer apparent. There are no buildings of any kind anywhere in the vicinity of this small park. I have no other information -- other than a photograph of the plaque. Just thought someone here might find this of interest.
