I cannot tell you if the surname Hunsinger has a verifiable meaning of some sort. However, I can tell you, that the name first appeared in Switzerland in the early 1400s'-it along with some of the variants you site seem to have come from that area. My direct ancestor introduced the surname into Germany
in 1663. He was born in Switzerland and
married a German girl. He was seen as Hundzinger and Hunsinger. All his children
and descendants were seen exclusively as Hunsinger. Some of the variants seen
represent mis-spellings over time and/or
represent a different migratory route of that particular passing thru France; Germany etc..
Hope it helps, Ken
