Assuming that Martin and Michael Ebert of York, PA were brothers, there is a "Records of Moravian Chruch, York Pennsylvania-- Soul-Register of the Members of the Congregation and Society and Their Children in Yorktown in the Year 1780." In this record it states that "Martin EBERT, born 1724 at Unter-Anfrach in the Mark of Anspach, Lutheran, came to America 1732. Married 1749 to Evan Barbara Kerber, born 1729 at Reichenbach, Anspach, Lutheran." After much research I located the area in Bavaria, and found a researcher to do a lookup ($50.) for me. She found the above referenced Martin, with father Johann Michael Ebert (a very small farmer). She also found a sister, Maria Margaretha, 1727. There was a Michael, born 12 Feb. 1726 in Unterampfrach at 3 in the afternoon, but his father is Balthasar Bert, a miller, with mother Anna Maria Wolf. The researcher suggested that I go to the archives in Nurnberg (which I did, but it was just before 9/11, so I never went back. I was intent on returning to the States. Hope this sheds some light.
