Emil and Mary were married 6/18/1865 in St. Marys, Kansas, Pottawatomie County, Kansas. Emil Ebert was the son of Gembert and Sophia (Unknown) Ebert. Maria "Mary" Umscheid Ebert was the daughter of Johann Lorenz Umscheid and Maria Anna Schmitt. Maria's living sisters were Julia Umscheid married to John Fox, Augusta Umscheid married 1st to Christian Getz, 2nd to John Tieking, Magdalena Umscheid married to Charles B. (Carl B.) Mayer. Mary Umscheid had one living brother, Vincent Umscheid married to Anna Louise Ryffel.
