Judy, no, we do not yet know the parents of either of the two William Crumps born and living about the same time in Virginia. Most likely they were both immigrants.

BUT, we do know that NEITHER of them married Mary Spillman! Mary Spillman was the sister of Frances Mountney, who married the William Crump from Lancaster County and then moved with him and their family to Talbot Co., MD. The other William (York County/New Kent County)was married to an "Ann", last name unknown, but possibly Vaulx. They were clearly two seperate individuals.

It was in the second edition (I think) of Adventures of Purse and Person that first speculated that William (of Lancaster)was married to Mary Spillman. The Third edition (1987) did not clarify it, but the Fourth edition (Jan. 2004) did.

Interestingly enough, in the Fourth edition of Adventurers, no mention is made of either William as a possible son of Sgt. Thomas in the section on Thomas. Only John was mentioned as son.

The informtion on William, husband of Frances Mountney is covered in the section on "Boyle-Mountney", since she was in James City County by 1623 or 1624, not because there was any implied relationship to Sgt. Thomas Crumpe.

The section on Buck in this new edition also makes it clear that there were no descendents of Rev. Richard Bucke after his own children, and granddaughter Elizabeth, the daughter of Elizabeth Buck and John Crump. This Elizabeth died young and unmarried; Rev. Bucks only grandchild.

We are still doing research in England, Ireland, and the West Indies for the parents of either of the Williams.

Thank you for your inquiry. Ed
