Ruth: I have just found your 4/25/07 posting. My wife's Great Great Grandfather was the James W. Childress you mentioned in your post. I grew up around several Childress families in Ward Six, Caldwell Parish. I best know the family of Robert F. Childress (son of Robert Payne Childress) who was a grandson of James W.Childress. The information I have found on William H. Childress comes from the 1900 U.S. Census, Caldwell Parish, Ward Six. I see where he was born in January, 1835 and his wife and 8 children were in the household at this time. I would like to have information about William H.'s descendants if you would have it in a form you could pass along. I would share with Childress descendants from the James W. line.
