Childers / Childress of Nebraska

I am trying to help my step father trace his tree, but first we must try to identify his tree lol.

My step father was adopted in Nebraska, possibly born in Red Willow County Ne, born about 1949.
DNA testing says his closest 67 marker DNA match is that to the Childers / Childress surnames.

He appears to possibly have some Native American in him.
Anyone with a missing Childers / Childress son from Nebraska? His adopted mother whom is now deceased, would have told him who his parents were if she knew, but he was about 6 months old when she adopted him and she told him she knew nothing of his biological parents.

His birth certificate says he was born 1949 in Red Willow County Nebraska, presuming they told the truth on the birth certificate.
DNA testing says he is a 65/67 match to one Childress
64/67 match to other Childers / Childress men.
So he is a fairly close DNA match to both Childers and Childress men whom have DNA tested.

Thanks in advance for any help
