MaryJean:

My husband is descended from Solomon Carter and his wife Mary Ann Childers Carter, through their son Peter Carter who married Keziah Gatewood, and also through Solomon and Mary Ann's daughter Martha who married John Flood. Job Carter, son of Peter, married Adeline Flood, daughter of Martha and John Flood, and their daughter Martha Carter married Edwin Mays. Edwin and Martha Mays produced James Henry Mays.

Other Childers researchers have contacted me and agree with my hypothesis. I just want to find the will of Abraham who died in 1720 to confirm it. I believe that Philemon Childers Sr. who died in 1717 is the father of Abraham who married Hestor Pledge Cannon, and that Abraham who died in 1698 is a brother to Philemon Sr. Also, Philemon Sr. appears to have been married twice, to a daughter of John Howard from whom he had son Abraham, and to a daughter of Griffith Evans, from whom he had Philemon Jr. and Mary. I don't know the order of the marriages. Now where I am lost is which Abraham was the father of the Abraham who married Elizabeth Cannon. I have guessed that her father William was a son of Hestor Pledge Cannon and her first husband John Cannon. John names a son William in his will, leaving him land on Spring Branch and Four Mile Creek in Henrico. So I need more information to continue my seach, and the 1720 will might provide it. Does anyone have a copy of it?
