Willeta M. Strunk Willeta M. Strunk, 90, of Saylorsburg, died early Thursday morning, July 22, at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the widow of James Stroud Strunk Jr., who died in 1969. Born on April 4, 1914 in Pen Argyl, she was a daughter of the late Merl S. and Mamie I. (Bond) Possinger and had lived in Monroe County for most of her life. She had worked in the laundry department of Pocono Hospital (now Pocono Medical Center). Willeta was an active member of the George N. Kemp Post 346 American Legion Auxiliary, East Stroudsburg, where she served as president for 6 consecutive years. She was also a member of the Thomas Lambert Post 2540 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the LeFemms 40 & 8. She volunteered as a gray lady at the Pocono Medical Center for ten years. She is survived by four daughters: Nancy Allen, with whom she resided in Saylorsburg, Jeanette Lester of St. Petersburg, Fla., Helen A. Counterman of Stroudsburg and P. Kathy Manning of Minisink Hills; a son, Ralph E. Strunk Sr. of Stroudsburg; three brothers: Bruce Possinger and Harvey Possinger, both of East Stroudsburg and Clair Possinger of Stroudsburg; four sisters: Erma Schmidt of Saylorsburg, Joyce Romansky of Arizona, Naomi Phillips of Stroudsburg, and Lucille Rarick of East Stroudsburg; 17 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 19 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Swingle, who died in 1975; and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 26, from the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Thomas Anderman officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg. There will be a visitation from noon on Monday, until the time of services at the funeral home. Published in the Pocono Record on 7/23/2004.
